Transcription Service for Robot Videos

EDIT: This transcription service is on hiatus until further notice.

Do you have a demonstration video or tutorial video about robotics or productivity software, and you need a transcription for it? How about for a robotics-centered podcast? Or a half-hour long presentation on your robotics project?

With a transcription for your video, you could reach more visitors, readers or customers for your website or company. Some people may just want to read it first to familiarize themselves with the order of events, topics, or terminology. If they watch the video or listen to the audio first, they can download the transcript for future reference.

If they’d like to, they could watch the video or listen to the audio, having the prior knowledge of the events, topic or product. They may even be more likely to buy, subscribe, or download.

Productivity software (such as those for writing, or writers) is my primary niche, but I’d also like to be involved with robotics in the best way that I can—with writing and transcription being the top two ways that I can.

I happen to offer transcription services on Fiverr.

Question 1: What exactly do I do there?

On Fiverr I provide a transcription service focused on the technology areas of robots and helpful PC software and mobile apps.

I love robots and I’m fascinated with robotics, especially humanoid robotics and social robotics. How about discussions on robot ethics? Yes, that too. Wouldn’t you want someone like this to work with you?

You want someone who is both interested in the subject, skilled in typing, and pleased to help rather than just doing it only for the money.

You want someone who comes alive doing work related to what their interests are. When you choose a specialist, you will get the benefit of that person’s energy and excitement, eager to participate and serve.

Question 2: Is this something you, or someone you know, might be interested in?

Think—a transcription for your podcast episode discussing robot ethics would make your material easier to read and review. Or, maybe you’d like a transcription for a tutorial of your new app. Maybe, you want the transcript to be easy to read and follow along with the video or audio content.

I like to help other people get the most out of things. And in this case, helping your listeners, viewers or readers get the most out of your podcast and website, or any other online site, is something I’d be very excited about doing for you.

Don’t just take my word for it on what I can do for you. Try my transcription service out yourself. Let me transcribe something for you, and you never know... it may expand your readership and your visitors' appreciation of transcripts as learning materials.

Question 3: Where can you learn more?

So how about it? If you’re interested in learning more, you can find this transcription service here (If you don’t have a Fiverr account, it’s very easy to create one and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes).

My basic offer starts at $5, plus a couple of extra options you’ll find on the page. You’ll find me as DreamTypistSW (shows as “dreamtypistsw” in all lowercase).

Nothing Lasts Forever...?

I may have this gig up for a limited time. I am not sure if I’ll keep it one of my permanent services on Fiverr. However, I can’t tell the future. I cannot calculate all the probabilities like a robot might! :P  (Insert funny Perceptor or Computron reference here.)

So if you want a good deal now, then now’s the time to try out my transcription services before I remove them from Fiverr, or even before I raise rates.  This could be as long as months or as short as weeks.

GOT THE NEW BLOG RUNNING

I got my new blog up and running now. I would call it a sister blog to Cybernetic Dreams, too.  Now I can finally tell you what it’s called: I've titled it The Frowning Robot.

I am so glad I started it because it may be a useful tool in inspiring me to look up, watch, or read about robot-related things more often than I do now.  More than ever before, I want to blog about my fascination and enthusiasm for robots, androids and cyborgs. Seeing CHAPPiE sort of motivated me to get right to it.  Plus because I threw out some dead weight career-wise, leaving my mismatched healthcare industry profession, I have the time and inclination to do more robot-related writing.

I wanted to keep the new blog more focused on real-world robotics, but it’s Tumblr…I’m going  to have fun with it and post/reblog screenshots, fan art and GIFs of robots, androids and cyborgs that are found in movies, animated TV shows, video games, or from my favorite comic book Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye. Some robot shows I haven’t even seen before, from the early 90s, are showing up on my dashboard and I can’t help but want to reblog them because it makes me smile!
Otherwise, I do want to post or reblog about the occasional real-world robotics, such as the Nao from Aldebaran Robotics, and the ASIMO humanoid robot from Honda.

A few of the blogs I follow there:

I saw CHAPPiE, and I loved it!!

I was able to take a few hours away from my home and see CHAPPiE.  (When I refer to the movie itself, I spell it in all caps except for the letter “i.”  When I am referring to the title character, I go ahead and spell it out “Chappie.”)

I am excited.  This will be the first review I’ve ever done in Cybernetic Dreams.  I was going to write one for RoboCop 2014, but I never got to it.  I didn’t even get the chance to announce that I saw Big Hero 6 on December 13th last year.  Big Hero 6 just may be my next favorite robot movie right under I, Robot. Maybe when I see those two movies again I could have a review prepared for each.

But while CHAPPiE is still fresh in my mind, I want to write my reaction about it, at least.  Which may read like a review.
Okay, so it’s not a review.  But it’s my opinion.

I hope to complete my “review” of CHAPPiE within the next two weeks.

Where Have I Been? Announcement 02-20-2015

If you've been following along, I haven't updated this blog since September. I hope to end that dry spell now.  I have a new announcement.

I am leaving my medical coding and billing career.

It was a hard decision to make. I spent two years preparing for that career. It became a problem when I realized that if I were to continue and get a job in that field, my writing would suffer. It has been suffering long enough. For months I was depressed about it and wondered if I should stay in that path.   As I tried to prepare for a certification exam, the career was suffocating my writing and creativity outlets and I was losing sight of who I am and what I truly wanted.  I know now that medical coding and billing is not the right career for me.

Writing is.  I am good at typing/word-processing, and I love the computer. I love being expressive and creative.  My writing may not be at its best now, but I am willing to learn more and improve my writing skills so as to write for professional purposes. I can exercise my curiosity more often now and not feel like they are distractions.  I would like to write for a living.

So on that note, I am going to attempt to keep Cybernetic Dreams going.  I am sorry for those who thought I gave up on it.  I simply was letting life take control of me, when I needed to take control of my life.  It's time to move on and be happy.  Look forward to the future instead of dread it.

It's time I get started on that sister blog for Cybernetic Dreams that I mentioned in the recent past.

Happy belated new year, and welcome to more possibilities!

A Sister Blog is Coming!

I have wanted to start a Tumblr for a while now.  I’d like to share pictures or blog posts relating to robots on Cybernetic Dreams, but I didn’t know what and how, exactly.  It may be a bit more time-consuming, but I decided to start a Tumblr that also focuses on robots.  It will have reblogs and posts that pertain to what I already have discussed in this blog.
Once I have the new Tumblr ready, I will announce it and include a link to it in Cybernetic Dreams.  I think it would be nice to share my interest in robots, androids and cyborgs in ways other than writing.  The visual aspect of Tumblr will be fun, and it will supplement the topics of the blog  And also, I don’t have to worry too much about what pictures I am allowed to post on the Tumblr because they would be reblogs of posts/images, which is allowed there anyway.

I am hoping to get it started by the time autumn is over.

Do I Want to Write for a Magazine?

I am considering writing for Robot Magazine.  I am not a robot builder, or an engineer, although I considered taking up a mechanical engineering major when I was too late.  But I like writing about robot-related things, robot-related topics, including cybernetic body parts.  But I especially love A.I.-based robots and want to read more about them.

One television show, called Extant, features an android boy named Ethan and he is what his creators call a “Humanich.” The story is not about robots—or androids—but I love how robot ethics plays into some parts of the story.  There are robotic machines in this show too, and recently we met a sweeper robot that is badly damaged—a result of robot abuse—and Ethan the Humanich feels sorry for him and wants to take him home.

It would be interesting to observe the different between how John the creator/father treats his “son” Ethan and how he treats the sweeper robot.  Very different.

I have yet to read more of the Robot Ethics essay collection, but I’d like to write an essay of my own.  I also want to connect the essay and the articles to different robot stories I’ve encountered, either in reading or in television, and especially, in the real world.

I recently started watching an old Japanese anime on the Internet, called Brave Police J-Decker.  The animation is old but it is a show with a good story.  Deckard is a big man-made robot who transforms into a police car (yep… a transforming robot, but not the Hasbro Transformers), and after befriending a boy, his A.I. systems developed a consciousness and a personality.  He is able to laugh and smile and frown.
My life changed so much since I started this blog in June 2010.  Priorities have changed but, I still want to keep this blog going.  It is important that I keep my fascination with robots, androids and cyborgs a strong presence, in case someone out there would happen upon it and would like to join in a conversation about the related topics.

The New RoboCop Film, Released Today!!!

On January 12, I saw a trailer for the new RoboCop film for the first time and I gasped and my jaw dropped.  I had to cover my mouth closed with my hand to keep myself from breathing loud so I can hear the voice over.  That’s how excited I was.  I realized this was the RoboCop movie I was waiting for after seeing the original one two years ago.

I am very excited about this.  So excited!

I know there was a second and third film, but I will have to see those later, or not.  So to see a new RoboCop movie released this year…it’s as thrilling to me as when I found out about the I, Robot film in summer 2004.  That previous year I read Isaac Asimov’s collections Robot Dreams and I, Robot during and after my senior year of high school.  So of course, you may imagine how psyched I was to watch a movie based on the story collection.

Joel Kinnaman is the new RoboCop and he looks awesome!  By now, I’ve seen the two different trailers for the movie enough times that I even have a favorite part of the movie ad, like the part when RoboCop lands on the ground and then stands up, looking so bad-ass!  And then, what’s with the black paint job?!!  I don’t remember that happening in the original movie, but as this is a reboot of the RoboCop story, I am very curious to see what the darker suit will mean. I read the article about Joel Kinnaman’s RoboCop in the past Sunday Daily News, and now I have a better idea on when this black paint job is going to happen.  It is interesting, interesting indeed.  I wish I can say why, but I don’t want to be misleading just in case I’m wrong or inadvertently spoiling anyone.  I gotta see this for myself, you know?

The RoboCop reboot film will be released today.  I won’t see it today, but I’m so excited about it I’d like to see it soon after!  Did I mention I was excited?

And there is another robot-themed movie coming out later this year: the fourth Transformers movie from Michael Bay.  My sister got me into the Transformers franchise in the middle of last year, and now we have one more Transformers film to watch before we’ve caught up to where the fourth movie is next.

I have a bit of an itch to write my own review of RoboCop 2014, and if I do pursue this task I may have to wait at least two weeks after its release in theaters to post it on Cybernetic Dreams. As the film will be dealing with morality and ethics I am bound to have something to say about these in response/reflection after viewing the film. In the meanwhile I will try not to read other reviews of the film, although if there is a source or two I admire I might mention what they say and credit them to further illustrate my points.

Should I watch the original one again too?  I’ll have to rent it somewhere (iTunes may be my hope because Blockbuster is gone and I am NOT going to use Netflix gosh darnit!).
Who else is excited about the new RoboCop?

Happy New Year!! New Year, New Beginnings

Happy New Year, dear readers!!  It's a new year and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for reading Cybernetic Dreams and for those stopping by for the first time, thank you!

I am looking forward to the new year!  Aren't you?

I have some more reading to do on robotics when I get around to it.  I am especially excited about a book I want to read that focuses on one of my favorite topics about robots: robot ethics.  There will be more on this within the next few weeks, I hope very soon.

A Combat Robot Show on the SyFy Channel

I still need to see the movie Real Steel, but I am kind of excited about this new show.  It's titled, Robot Combat League.
For once, the SyFy network is actually airing a show that focuses on robots.  But it is not just any robot.  No.  It’s going to show combat robots.  Robots made for fighting.
Fighting for the entertainment of humans.
In a way, I kind of don’t like that idea at the same time.  I don’t like to see two robots try to destroy each other.  At least when humans do it in sports like boxing and wrestling, they don’t try to kill each other, and yes there will be injuries.  But do robots know when to quit the damage?  Maybe if they had some sort of “damage gauge” built into their visual sensors, they’d tell when the other one is losing and it’s time to stop fighting.
Mega Man X would not want to see this.
What helps me easily deal with this oil-shed is that the combat robots don’t really have faces.  They may have something on their heads that resemble eyes, or one eye, but that is all.
I’m going to give this show another chance, but otherwise I’m not sure if I want to waste any more hours watching people waste awesome perfectly-built robots.  They would do best at a science show and be operated to “air-fight” so as to not damage the other robots. Why is the act of physically fighting so entertaining to us humans?  Is it because we don’t like to do it ourselves but it is rather fun to see other people—or robots—do it instead?  Has our violent culture gone too far?

I think I may have been on an unannounced hiatus, so sorry for any disappointment I may have caused for not posting as regularly as I used to.

But I will be back next next year as soon as the end of January  ^__^

So, have a Merry Christmas and a pleasant Hanukkah and a wonderful Kwanzaa!!!!

Adding more readings to my list…

The following books will be added to my list of books I will be reading during the course of my journey towards understanding robot science fiction. Incidentally they are short story collections from Isaac Asimov. :3

• Robot Visions, short story collection by Isaac Asimov
• The Rest of the Robots, another short short collection by Asimov
• "The Positronic Man" (well, it’s one short story, by...you guessed it...Isaac Asimov)

I already said that I wanted to start reading Robot Dreams again, though. Gosh, I am giving myself too much to read. I have other things I should be reading too, it’s just that I am so passionate about robots/androids/cyborgs in science-fiction that I want to read as much as possible about it, especially from Isaac Asimov himself.

Post Delay

I will have the next post up within a few days or less.  I am putting my research on a short hold, so maybe I can catch up on posting about my progress after some time.  There was a lot of good reading the past week from David Levy's Robots Unlimited: Living in a Virtual Age.  I read chapters ten to thirteen.

I want to finish the next post offline so that I can use spell-check.

And unfortuately I couldn't have a good reading of The Coming Robot Revolution.  It was a library book and I had to return both of them.  I spent too much time on David Levy's book, so I will have to wait to borrow it again from the library later.   I won't take the book out of my list of reading, though.  It will stay there, but  it will be switched from its place in the list.

Android Kikaider collection complete!

It was much cheaper to get these DVDs separately than to buy the entire Android Kikaider the Animation Collection, which is too expensive for me at this time.  Volume 4 of the series arrived Friday.

Also, the box set of Ishinomori's 009-1 arrived too, so I will watch that later, but at least it's here.  I've been reading the book Cyborg Citizen lately, so I want to watch that series after I've read some more of the book.  I've only seen episode 1 of 009-1, and I know I really like it and would like to view the entire series.  The plus is that female cyborgs star in this show, particularly the main character Mylene Hoffman.  She's such a doll, figuratively speaking.   :)

The Japanese Anime DVDs Arrived...

Thursday the first three volumes of Android Kikaider the Animation arrived at my house.  I was so excited and I couldn't wait to watch it.  I ended up watching the first two episodes the following night.  Amazon.com is so cool...

I've known about Android Kikaider for some time, but I never watched it.  In the spring of 2002 I found out it was coming on the Cartoon Network, but I didn't watch it.  I didn't know what it was about, plus it aired at 11:30pm or midnight.  Over a year later I found out what it was about--an android with a human soul--but the show wasn't on Cartoon Network anymore.

However in summer 2003 I had started watching Cyborg 009, another Japanese animated show that was originally created by Shotaro Ishinomori.  This aired on the Cartoon Network also.   I was hooked on that show.  In another anime DVD I found out that Ishinomori also created Android Kikaider.  Little did I know that I was going to be a fan of his.

I am glad I will finally have a chance to enjoy this Android Kikaider series.
